Fermi Observing Timeline Utility Search

This utility allows you to search Fermi's observing timelines, both as planned and as-flown, and enables you to specify the information you wish displayed. Please make your choices, and then click on the submit button at the bottom. Depending on the scope of your search, it may take several seconds to obtain your results.

Fermi observations are planned a week at a time. A series of timelines are created before a given mission week, and a final "as-flown" timeline is produced after the observations. This utility displays data from the most recent timeline:

Timelines are available starting with Mission Week 6 that began July 10, 2008.

Data Selection

You can select data by one of the following: ObsID, Proposal ID, Principal Investigator, or position; thus the position will be ignored if you search by ObsID, Proposal ID, or Principal Investigator. All searches can be restricted to the mission week containing a specified time range. You can also request all observations during the mission week of a time range by leaving the ObsID, Proposal ID, Principal Investigator and location blank and specifying a time range.

Search by ObsID, Proposal ID, or Principal Investigator:

Search by Position:

with a search radius of degree(s)

Coordinates MUST be separated with a comma. Acceptable formats include:
  • RA and Dec (J2000 or B1950) in Degrees or hh:mm:ss.s, dd:mm:ss.s
    Example: 39.982, -25.192 or 02:39:55.7, -25:11:31.2
  • Galactic Coordinates in Degrees (l=longitude, b=latitude)
    Example: 123.345, 45.123

Date Range:

Acceptable formats:
  • Mission Week Number (use .. to indicate a range)
    Examples: 6 or 6..8
  • Date in ISO-8601 (yyyy-mm-dd) format (use .. to indicate a range)
    Examples: 2008-06-15 or 2008-06-15..2008-08-15

Viewing Options

A snapshot -- an uninterrupted observation—is the basic observation unit. You can view all the snapshots in the selected data, or the sum of the snapshots for each mission week. For each of these choices you can select which quantities you wish displayed. Finally, you can choose whether the results are initially sorted by ObsID or by time.
